Recently I had the opportuniy to see a remarkable collection of photos. The photos were part of a collection of early Chung Do Kwan history. Many of the photos included My teacher's teacher, Yong Taek Chung and also Won Kuk Lee, the man who founder the Chung Do Kwan in 1944. I am fascinated by the faces in the photos. I would love to know the stories of each individual pictured. I have heard some of the stories. It is hard to imagine what it must have been like for people caught between transitioning governments and the hardships that came from that. Today martial arts are considered a hobby, sport or pastime. I can only imagine what these young men thought as they walked through the door of the Chung Do Kwan in those early days.
